Based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, Atomic Programming are providing an innovative approach to the design & manufacture of USB programming tools and accessories for embedded development and production applications. The company was established in 2003 with the specific intent of developing next-generation Programming tools. With over 35 years combined experience in the industry, there was no shortage of ideas as to how the product range should line-up. The AP-1164 Universal Engineering programmer incorporating USB connectivity and a powerful, flexible software interface was launched in 2005, with significant funding from the UK Government SMART award programme, that rewards technical innovation. With the semiconductor industry moving increasingly towards small form factor, high pin-count devices, it was decided to develop a range of In-System and JTAG Programming tools. To avoid confusion regarding product selection, we decided to develop a Universal Hardware Platform. The AP-114 ISP/JTAG Programming System provides a universal tool for your embedded and In-System Programming requirements, and together with our new Boundary Scan software provides a complete solution for your JTAG applications. ISP support now covers JTAG compatible FPGAs, Altera & Xilinx FPGA Configuration PROMs, Serial Flash and EEPROM and Atmel AVR devices. With adapters, it is also possible to programme Serial EEPROM devices out of circuit. More non-JTAG In-System programming support is in development including Microchip PIC and 8051 based microcontrollers. However, all new developments will be available via a simple software download, with no additions to the hardware required, significantly reducing long terms costs. This means a change in your microcontroller or CPLD requirements, doesn't mean a change in programming tool. The programmer also offers an embedded development platform, which includes support for Jennic JN5148 Zigbee Microcontrollers (both Programming & Debugging). We work closely with Jennic, and development is ongoing towards other ZigBee based products. The AP-114 product road-map includes similar support for ARM and Altera NIOS development systems. In March 2010 we launched our JTAG/Boundary Scan software. AP-Scan offers a more affordable option to the many alternatives currently available on the market, without compromising performance or features. More software products that utilise the JTAG/Boundary Scan chain are also under development. All of these programming and test functions are supported by a single hardware platform, the AP-114. Technical
Support However, before making contact, please ensure you have first checked that are running the latest [software] version, and also looked through our [product support] pages to see if a solution to your problem already exists. To ensure you keep up to date with new software, please [register] with us. Should you still need to contact us, we prefer this to be done by email, as this is easier to manage and record. However, we appreciate that Engineers like to share their experience of a product, as well as their own ideas, and have both a dedicated support forum available, plus a discussion board on our facebook page. The advantage of using there facilities is that all users can see the kinds of problems and issues that can arise, and have a ready made FAQ guide to hand, so support is available 24/7 - wherever you are based in the world.
