PHI PHI ISLAND EDUCATION FUND

The NATANDY Fund received a cheque for £953.83 from The St Johns C of E Walham Green Primary School in Fulham - collected shortly after the disaster. The school were keen that the money should go directly to a school and not into the "big melting pot" of the DEC appeal

The NATANDY Fund has made this amount up to £1000 and this was donated to the Phi Phi Island Education Fund when the families visited the island for the first anniversary of the Tsunami.

The Phi Phi Island fund has been set up to help the children continue their education beyond the age of 12 years, which is when they must leave the school on Phi Phi. The students who continue their education in Secondary school or college will receive a sum of money for each year they attend. Also every child from Phi Phi, regardless of where they are currently living will receive a gift from the fund in December of each year.

Whilst the families were in Thailand for the 1st Anniversary of the Tsunami, Sandra and Barbara visited the school to hand out a selection of toys to the children. This included some of Natalie's huge collection of Winnie the Pooh cuddly toys.
