We have worked closely with NXP Semiconductor for some time to develop programming and debug tools for their range of JN5168/9 ultra low power, high performance wireless microcontrollers. We also offer complete wireless solutions with the AP-311 Wireless Gateway, and continue to work closely with NXP as they continue to develop the JN5168 product range as well as JenNet-IP support tools

JenNet SDK

Atomic has a license agreement with NXP that allowed Atomic to access to all source code in 2013. We have continued to develop JenNet (now called JenieJenNet to differentiate it from JenNet-IP) for all of our customers and have fed bugs back to NXP as required. We now have JenieJenNet SDKs running on the JN5168 and JN5169 which have bug fixes and feature enhancements.

Atomic offers support contracts that gives you access to the following:

1) Latest version of the JenieJenNet SDK for use with Beyond Studio for NXP. The SDK is backwards compatible with previous versions from NXP (including security).

2) The Atomic version has a number of new features that can optionally be enabled such as
    • Time server support - UTC time can be passed across the network to synchronize the time.
    • Built in support for energy and active scanning to improve Wi-Fi countermeasures.
    • ExtendedBeaconRequests to reduce the number beacons generated to improve join time
    • MiniMac support reducing the code size compared to older NXP releases.
    • Debugger support in Beyond Studio using the Beyond Debug Key.

3) Packet sniffer - The Ubiqua sniffer recommended by NXP does not support the MAC2003 security mode implemented in JenieJenNet.
4) Updated User Guide and release notes including porting from the older eclipse based solution
5) Updated example applications demonstrating the new features.
6) Unlimited Email support. We aim to give an initial response the same day during weekdays

AP-401 USB Programming Dongle

The USB Programming Dongle provides a simple solution for programming a Flash memory device on a JN51XX-based application board using the standard Jennic JN51xx Flash Programmer tool. It's based on the Jennic reference design JN-RD-6021.

This is the recommended tool for re-programming rhe flash memory in the AP-310, AP-330 and AP-350 Gateways.

This USB Programming Dongle replaces the FTDI cable and allows for connection to a physically smaller 6-pin connector, therefore allowing the easy development of application boards where space is critical. In addition to the smaller connector, the requirement for switches on the reset and SPIMISO line is removed, which saves further space.

A secondary use of this programming dongle is to allow UART communication during application development, such as to provide debug messages.

AP-420 JN5168 USB Dongle (JN-RD-6039)

The AP-420 is an FCC/ETSI/IC approved JN516x USB Dongle that features a JN5168 wireless microcontroller and allows communication with this JN5168 device from a USB connection. This USB dongle is sold by NXP as part of the JN5168-EK001 evaluation kit and this dongle has been manufactured and tested using the same facility. AP-421 JN5169 USB Dongle (OM15020)

The AP-421 is an FCC/ETSI/IC approved JN5169 USB Dongle that features a JN5169 wireless microcontroller and allows communication with this JN5169 device from a USB connection.
